Xantu.Layr nanofibre veil, a revolutionary product made in New Zealand, has been used to improve fatigue resistance and bending properties on the new surfboards Olympic fins which will race in Tokyo’s games in 2020.
The nylon structure of the Xantu.Layr, in combination with his low area weight (1,5 to 4,5 gsm), increased the properties of the composite, ensuring more resistance in high-risk failure parts of the fin. Each piece went under long fatigue tests, where the fin was bent for more than 2000 times without losing structural stability.
GPMC is responsible for the product development, sales and distribution of the Xantu.Layr in Europe.
